Ex-UK Minister Ann Widdecombe Found Dead in Devon; Murder Inquiry Launched
Former British cabinet minister and Reform UK spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe, 78, was found with serious injuries at her rural home on Dartmoor. Police were called by the ambulance service on the morning of July 9 and declared her death suspicious. Devon and Cornwall Police have opened a major crime investigation. Detectives believe a white male may be connected to the incident and are appealing for any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from around Haytor Vale. Detective Chief Inspector Ilona Rosson said the inquiry is moving at pace. She urged the public to avoid speculation and asked anyone with information to come forward as forensic teams continue examining the scene. Widdecombe served as MP for Maidstone for 23 years, held ministerial roles under John Major, was a Brexit campaigner and later joined Reform UK. Tributes have been paid across Britain’s political spectrum.
