Gunmen Abduct Prospective Corps Members Travelling to NYSC Camps in Imo
Gunmen reportedly attacked two buses travelling on the Owerri–Onitsha Road near Umunoha, Imo State, on 1 October 2026. The buses were carrying graduates from Ibadan to NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states. About 19 prospective corps members were reportedly abducted, including two LAUTECH alumni, Olaleye Mary Aderanti and Oladosu Greatness Oluwakorede. Security agencies have reportedly rescued 10 victims, while others are still being held. The National Liberty Vanguard has called on the Federal Government, security agencies and the NYSC to intensify efforts to secure the safe release of those still in captivity.
