Davido’s Global Stage Protest: Spotlight on Oyo’s Kidnapped Children

At the FIFA 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles, Davido wore a custom jacket bearing the names of students and teachers abducted in Oyo State. He stood on the main stage and asked the world not to forget these children. Each green button on his jacket carried the name of a missing pupil or teacher. He marked those who lost their lives in captivity with a different design. Across his back, the message “Bring Them Home” was clearly visible to millions watching. On May 15, armed men attacked schools in Oriire, kidnapping 39 children and 7 teachers. A two-year-old girl was among those taken. One teacher was killed just two days after the abduction. By wearing their names in front of FIFA and global media, Davido forced questions that press releases could not. He used his platform to demand action and keep the world’s eyes on Nigeria’s security crisis.
