Why Doesn’t Nigeria Have a Derby That Brings the Country to a Standstill?

I have travelled to Ghana and seen how much attention the Asante Kotoko versus Hearts of Oak fixture can attract. When I was in Accra, traffic seemed to slow as people focused on the match. Other countries also have major rivalries, such as Kaizer Chiefs versus Orlando Pirates in South Africa, Al Ahly versus Zamalek in Egypt, Boca Juniors versus River Plate in Argentina, and Flamengo versus Corinthians in Brazil. In my view, Nigeria does not have a domestic football fixture with the same countrywide impact. Which Nigerian clubs could create a rivalry that gets the whole nation talking?
