Kano State has confirmed cholera cases through laboratory testing as health officials intensify efforts to contain the outbreak. The state also says diphtheria cases have been reported in more than 27 of its 44 local government areas. The Kano State Centre for Disease Control said it received 227 suspected cholera cases. Fifteen met the criteria for sample collection, with seven testing positive through rapid diagnostic tests and six later confirmed by laboratory analysis. Health authorities have deployed 126 disease surveillance officers across the state, supported by community informants and ward focal persons. Residents have been urged to maintain good hygiene, report suspected cases quickly and seek medical care when symptoms appear.
