Viral Court Assault Sparks Activist’s Call for Urgent Judicial Reforms
A public affairs commentator and activist, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, has criticised political interference and corruption in Nigeria’s judiciary. His remarks follow a viral video showing a security guard assaulting a lawyer at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Iche alleges that some judges accept luxury gifts and cash from politicians in exchange for favourable rulings. He warns this practice has turned the judiciary into a tool of the powerful and eroded public trust in the legal profession. He also censured security agencies for disregarding court orders by re-arresting suspects granted bail. Iche is urging the Nigerian Bar Association and legal practitioners to take action, restore integrity, and safeguard the independence of the courts.
