Nigeria Arrests, Repatriates Chadian Murder Suspect Traced to Kano

The Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested and repatriated Mahadijiria Abdoulaye, a Chadian national wanted in Chad over the alleged torture and murder of Nazik Mahamat Saleh. Police said Abdoulaye was also linked to alleged narcotics trafficking and fled to Nigeria after the killing, which reportedly occurred on 3 May 2026. An arrest warrant was issued by a court in N'Djamena on 22 June 2026 for Abdoulaye and an alleged accomplice. INTERPOL operatives reportedly traced Abdoulaye to Railway Quarters in Kano State's Nasarawa Local Government Area and arrested her on 5 August 2026. She was handed over to Chadian authorities through international police cooperation arrangements. However, the stated repatriation date of 14 August 2025 appears inconsistent with the 2026 timeline and may require clarification. The police said the operation demonstrates Nigeria's commitment to preventing fugitives from using the country as a safe haven.
