Lola Idije Says She Is Tired of Being Cast as a Shouting, Wicked Mother-in-Law

Veteran Nollywood actress Toyin Afolayan, popularly known as Lola Idije, says she has repeatedly asked filmmakers to give her more diverse roles. The Yoruba movie star is widely known for playing strict mothers-in-law and troublemakers. She said many of her roles require her to shout, while kinder motherly characters are rarely offered to her. Speaking in an interview, Lola Idije said she has questioned directors and crew members about being stereotyped. She wants opportunities to show a softer side of her acting ability.
