Olamide Defends Yoruba Traditions: “I’d Gladly Use Black Soap”
Rapper Olamide defended Yoruba culture at a private screening of Sotayo Gaga’s film, Ose Dudu, saying traditional practices should not automatically be labelled diabolical. He said he would gladly use traditional black soap if someone offered it to him and urged Nigerians to take pride in their heritage. Known as ose dudu in Yoruba, black soap is made from ingredients such as plantain skins, cocoa pods and palm kernel oil. The film explores beliefs surrounding the soap and traditional practices. Fans praised Olamide’s remarks online as a defence of Yoruba identity and culture.
