Court Nullifies Pantami’s PDP Governorship Ticket, Orders Fresh Gombe Primary

A Federal High Court in Gombe has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party to conduct a fresh governorship primary in the state, nullifying the emergence of Prof. Isa Ali Pantami as the party’s candidate. The ruling followed a suit by Usman Aliyu Garry, who argued that the party did not conduct the required primary before announcing Pantami as its sole candidate. Pantami had moved to the PDP after the APC adopted Jamilu Gwamna as its consensus governorship candidate. The court directed the PDP to conduct a new primary in line with its guidelines and electoral laws.
