UK Bars Climate Academic Andreas Malm Ahead of Palestine Action Event
Swedish climate academic Andreas Malm says he has been barred from entering the United Kingdom ahead of a London event on Palestine Action, a group banned in Britain. Malm, author of How to Blow Up a Pipeline, was due to speak alongside Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori at an event organised by Tribune magazine. The discussion was planned to coincide with a Supreme Court challenge to the group’s proscription. He described the decision as scandalous and called for it to be reversed, while the Home Office said it does not comment on individual immigration cases. Supporters, including novelist Sally Rooney, said the restriction raised concerns about freedom of expression and public debate.
