NANS to Stage Peaceful Protest at LAUTECH Over Student Suspensions

NANS to Stage Peaceful Protest at LAUTECH Over Student Suspensions

The National Association of Nigerian Students (South-West Zone D) has announced a peaceful protest at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology campus on Monday, June 8. This follows the suspension of several students who opposed the relocation of Anatomy and Physiology from the College of Health Sciences to the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences. NANS argues that suspending students for raising legitimate concerns about the move’s impact on their academics, transportation, and finances is unfair. The association says management should engage in constructive dialogue rather than impose punitive measures. Leaders also expressed concern over the ongoing suspension of the Students’ Union Government at LAUTECH. They vow to occupy the campus until the institution reverses the suspensions and addresses the underlying grievances.

It's curious that a student association would call for protest instead of seeking a dialogue with university authorities first.

A peaceful protest might risk unnecessary tension on campus when student councils and admin appeal processes exist for handling such suspensions.

Students should document any campus incidents during the protest and share clear proposals for how relocating Anatomy classes affects their studies with the university.
