UK vs Canada Master’s in 2026/27: Costs, Work Rights and PR Prospects for Nigerians

If I am planning to study abroad with 2022 or 2023 information, I need to pause and reassess. UK and Canadian study routes have changed, and relying on agents or part-time work without a solid financial plan can lead to serious problems. A UK Master’s is usually completed in one year, making it faster and potentially cheaper overall. However, tuition and living costs remain high, standard taught Master’s students generally cannot bring dependants, and getting employer sponsorship after the Graduate Route can be difficult. A Canadian Master’s often takes two years and requires stronger upfront funding for tuition and living expenses. The reward may be a longer post-graduation work permit and clearer permanent-residency options, but study-permit rules, provincial policies and PR pathways vary widely. The best option depends on my budget and long-term goal. The UK may suit a quick degree upgrade, while Canada may better fit a well-funded migration plan. Before paying any deposit, I should confirm the latest immigration rules directly with the relevant authorities.
