IDF Warns Hamas Is Rebuilding Forces as US Opposes New Israeli Offensive
The Israel Defense Forces’ intelligence branches have warned that Hamas is producing explosives and anti-tank missiles each month, recruiting new fighters and restarting training for its elite Nukhba unit. Officials also report that the group is rebuilding tunnels, smuggling drones and communications gear from Sinai, and entrenching its control over Gaza. The United States has opposed a fresh Israeli offensive, preferring to maintain the current ceasefire and advance the second phase of a peace plan that calls for an Israeli withdrawal, disarmament of Hamas and deployment of an international security force. That phase remains stalled amid disputes over humanitarian aid, troop pullbacks and disarmament terms.
