FG Launches Clean-Energy Initiative Targeting 1 Million Nigerian MSMEs

The Federal Government has launched the Tinubu Light Initiative, a renewable-energy programme designed to provide affordable and reliable electricity to one million micro, small and medium enterprises across Nigeria. Unveiled by the National Board for Technology Incubation at the NextGen Innovation Challenge 2026 in Abuja, the initiative aims to reduce businesses’ dependence on costly petrol and diesel generators through financing options and partnerships. The agency says the programme could create more than 50,000 direct jobs, support local manufacturing and help MSMEs reinvest savings from energy costs into expansion, production and employment.
