Ekiti Horror: Woman Raped to Death, Kidnappers Demand Virgins for Hostages’ Release
Residents in several Ekiti State communities are alarmed after a middle-aged woman was reportedly abducted and raped to death by suspected kidnappers in Ajoni. The attackers allegedly demanded ₦1.5 million, “Canadian Loud,” cocaine, crystal meth and cartons of beer for her body’s release. Unable to secure the drugs, villagers pooled cash instead. When four volunteers went to deliver the ransom, they were seized by the kidnappers. The criminals then issued a new demand: two virgin girls in exchange for the captured men, threatening to kill them if the community failed to comply. Fear has spread across at least six towns—Itapaji, Iyemero, Oke-Ako, Irele, Ijowa and Ipao—as armed groups move freely, disrupting water and healthcare access. Locals accuse their political representatives of silence beyond condolences. A pan-Yoruba socio-political group has called on authorities to act swiftly, while residents appeal to the Federal Government and security agencies for urgent intervention.
