Woman Faces Up to 25 Years After Tossing Homemade Dynamite at Sleeping Boyfriend

A 35-year-old woman was convicted for hurling a homemade dynamite stick into her boyfriend’s bedroom as he slept. The device exploded when he tried to toss it away, blowing off most of his hand and part of his arm. Prosecutors said the couple argued earlier that night and that the woman had threatened to use dynamite against him in the months before. After the blast, the injured man screamed for help and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors had to amputate the remainder of his hand and part of his arm. She was arrested the next day and found guilty of assault and multiple weapons charges. Sentencing is scheduled for late May.
