Federal Civil Servants Give Finance Minister August 11 Deadline Over Unpaid Wage Awards
The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council has given the Minister of Finance until August 11, 2026, to address unpaid wage awards and the delayed 40% peculiar allowance for federal public servants. The council said workers are owed wage-award payments for March and April 2026. It also wants the 40% allowance, which was meant to take effect from May 1, implemented without further delay. JNPSNC said two earlier letters to the minister received no response. It warned that unresolved demands could lead to nationwide industrial action, adding that the NLC, TUC and relevant government officials have been informed.
