Beauty Mogul to Deacon: e.l.f. Cosmetics Co-Founder Becomes Catholic Priest at 50
Scott-Vincent Borba, who helped build e.l.f. Cosmetics into a global brand, will be ordained in the Diocese of Fresno on May 23, 2026. After decades of success as a beauty executive and author, he now serves as a deacon during his pastoral year at St. Patrick’s Seminary. Borba recalls a defining moment at a party when he asked God for help to change his life. He gradually divested his wealth, sold his luxury car, and embraced a life of prayer and service guided by his deep Marian devotion. Though he launched skin-care lines, worked with celebrities, and enjoyed the high life in Beverly Hills, Borba says nothing brought him lasting joy. He describes his vocation as the fulfilment of a childhood calling and now shares a sense of true joy and peace in his journey to the priesthood.
