Delta State Enshrines 13th-Month Salary by Law, Okays New Teacher Recruitment

The Delta State Executive Council has approved making the 13th-month salary a permanent statutory benefit for all civil servants. A bill will be sent to the State Assembly to remove any discretion over its payment and guarantee it beyond the current administration. The council also addressed teacher shortages in public secondary schools. Officials have asked the Ministry of Secondary Education to outline immediate staffing needs, paving the way for recruiting more science and general subject teachers across the state. In addition, approval was granted to equip Technical Colleges in Oghareki and Irri, and new transport routes were created. These measures underscore the government’s push to boost workers’ welfare, strengthen education and expand technical skills training across Delta State.
