Inside Affidavit: Colleague Anita Baaki Details Mary Habila’s Death in Ebonyi Minister’s Chalet
Anita Baaki, a physiotherapist from Benue, has filed an affidavit detailing the last moments of her colleague Mary Habila at the country home of the Minister of Works in Ebonyi State. According to her statement, both were on official assignment and lodged in adjacent staff chalets under the minister’s supervision. Baaki said she last saw Habila, a 26-year-old nurse seconded to the Federal Ministry of Works, on the evening of June 26. Habila returned from having her hair styled, chatted briefly, then went in to take a shower. The next morning, her room stayed locked and her calls went unanswered. When staff forced the door open, they found her unconscious near the entrance. Doctors at the federal university teaching hospital pronounced Habila dead on arrival. Baaki confirms her testimony was given voluntarily to help investigators uncover the circumstances of this tragic incident. Police inquiries are ongoing.
