Man Who Killed Nicki Minaj’s Dad in Hit-and-Run Reaches Settlement
A wrongful death suit over the 2021 hit-and-run that claimed rapper Nicki Minaj’s father has been settled. Court filings show Charles Polevich, who served a jail term for the crash, reached an agreement with Carol Maraj this March. Carol Maraj had sought damages for the loss of her husband’s companionship after Robert Maraj, 65, was struck while crossing a street on Long Island. Polevich fled the scene but was later identified through surveillance and pleaded guilty to leaving the accident site and tampering with evidence. The deal closes the civil case. Earlier attempts to depose Nicki Minaj were dropped, preventing any questioning about her childhood or her parents’ relationship.
