Lincoln, My Brother: A Poem of Sacrifice and Escape
Lincoln, my brother. You stand fierce and flawed, claimed by blood and bound by chains. Framed by a shadowy force for a murder you never committed, you faced death row in Fox River. I chose to share your fate. I walked into prison to save you. I inked the prison’s map onto my skin and learned every fault line in those walls. I fell for an infirmary guard to keep your door open and deceived the warden to secure your freedom. We ran Route 66 together, breaking walls and defying the Company’s shadow. Your freedom cost me my name, my safety, my peace—but I regret nothing. This poem is inspired by a popular prison escape drama.
