Rita Edochie Calls Out Gender Bias in Marriage Sermon

Rita Edochie Calls Out Gender Bias in Marriage Sermon

Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has slammed a pastor’s recent message that forgives men for infidelity but punishes women who stray while their husbands travel. In an Instagram post, she argued that if cheating is a sin, it applies equally to both sexes. She insisted that mercy and forgiveness should not be reserved for men alone. “Justice that favours men while crushing women is not justice; it is witchcraft,” she wrote, demanding equal grace for wives and husbands alike.

The pastor's message seems to excuse male infidelity while punishing women more harshly for the same sin.

I don't buy the idea that men deserve more forgiveness; his sermon is just reinforcing outdated gender hierarchies.
