Reported Deal Could Give Adeleke Major Role in Osun APC’s 2027 Campaign Plans
Governor Ademola Adeleke is reportedly set to play a leading role in a coalition coordinating President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in Osun State. Sources said the arrangement, reportedly brokered by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, could also give Adeleke greater influence over political appointments and local government nominations. The reported deal would redistribute influence within the Osun APC. Adeleke is said to be allocated nominations for chairpersons in 20 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while the camps of former governor Gboyega Oyetola, Senator Iyiola Omisore and Senator Ajibola Basiru would share the remaining 10. The arrangement may also lead to an out-of-court settlement of the dispute over Osun local government control. Although Basiru and Omisore have backed cooperation with Adeleke, Oyetola’s camp has raised concerns about consultation after several party leaders were absent from the inauguration of Adeleke’s campaign council.
