UNIJOS Student John Arum Azi Freed After Week-Long Kidnapping
John Arum Azi, a student at the University of Jos, has been released after being abducted ten days ago while travelling from Jos to Zaria. Seven passengers were seized when gunmen attacked their vehicle on the Kaduna highway. A video showing Azi pleading for help circulated online, prompting widespread concern. The kidnappers initially demanded N30 million but later agreed to N6 million, which was raised by family members and concerned citizens. The family alleges the abductors still pressed for an additional N4 million despite receiving the ransom. His safe return has been confirmed by relatives. Authorities have yet to report any arrests or further details on the investigation.
