How I Passed My Fifth UK Care Worker Interview After Four Rejections
I applied for UK care assistant roles from March to August and failed four interviews, despite having five years of experience in Nigeria. I passed my fifth interview last month and received my Certificate of Sponsorship. The main difference was how I answered the questions, not my experience. The interview covered safeguarding, person-centred care, medication refusal, suspected abuse, difficult service users and CQC standards. UK employers expect candidates to show respect for dignity, accurate record-keeping and proper reporting to a manager or nurse. For example, if a client refuses medication, I would respect their right to refuse, explain the importance calmly, avoid forcing them, document it in the care notes, report it promptly and monitor the client. I also changed my CV to a concise UK-style format focused on skills and experience, without age or marital status. I prepared with 200 interview questions and model answers. Anyone preparing for a UK care interview can ask questions in the comments.
