Ebonyi Group Urges Governor Nwifuru to Own Up to Failures Instead of Blaming Wike

Ebonyi Group Urges Governor Nwifuru to Own Up to Failures Instead of Blaming Wike

A pro-democracy coalition, Ebonyi Citizens for Change, has condemned Governor Francis Nwifuru’s recent attacks on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as unwarranted and an attempt to drag him into state politics. The group argues that the governor’s outbursts amount to a distraction from his poor performance and could fuel division. They noted that Wike, as an FCT minister and non-Ebonyi indigene, has no voting stake in the state. Pressing for accountability, the coalition warned that blaming President Tinubu and Wike will not mask the absence of physical development despite over ₦500 billion released to Ebonyi. They say Governor Nwifuru risks losing the next election if he fails to focus on his responsibilities.

What specific failures should Governor Nwifuru acknowledge instead of blaming Minister Wike for state politics distractions?

True. He ought admit lapses in project execution, slow service delivery and budget oversight rather than shifting blame.

I've observed that deflecting to federal ministers rarely solves the real challenges facing Ebonyi State residents.

Maybe the governor truly believes Wike's actions affect Ebonyi, and this isn't only a distraction but a misplaced concern.

Focus on achievable local improvements, like infrastructure or healthcare, instead of headline-grabbing political feuds.
