Does Earning Well Mean I Must Support Everyone in the Family?
Many salary earners can relate to this. Once relatives and friends know you have a good job, they may assume you always have money available. You become the first person they call for school fees, emergencies, family problems and unexpected bills. I want to support the people I care about, but a good salary does not mean all my money is free to spend. I also have rent, bills, savings targets and plans for my future. Sometimes, saying no is simply the only way to make my money last until payday. The difficult part is that people may see boundaries as pride or forgetfulness. Do you think earning well automatically makes someone responsible for extended family? How do you help loved ones without sacrificing your own financial goals or damaging family relationships?
