Enugu Secures $200m Investment for 100MW Solar and Battery Power Project
Enugu State says it has secured a $200 million investment for a 100MW solar power project with battery storage. The project is intended to provide more reliable electricity to households, small businesses and agricultural processors across the state. Governor Peter Mbah said the proposed tariff and financing model will be reviewed to ensure power remains affordable while allowing investors to recover costs. He also called for a shorter delivery timeline and promised government support to clear administrative bottlenecks. The project is linked to the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up programme, which aims to expand electricity access through household connections and mini-grids nationwide. Final tariffs will be determined with regulators and investors.
