FCT Police Rescue 36-Year-Old Woman Held in Chains by Her Brother
The FCT Police Command sprung into action after receiving a distress call about Grace Aniekuoku’s unlawful confinement. Detectives from the Katampe Division forced entry into her brother’s home and found her chained in a dark, unsanitary room. She was severely emaciated and unable to walk due to prolonged muscle atrophy. Investigators have arrested Grace’s brother, Chinedu Aniekuoku, on charges of unlawful confinement, deprivation of liberty and assault. He allegedly imprisoned Grace for over 16 months to prevent her from claiming her share of their joint business and real estate assets. Authorities are also searching for Grace’s young son, who disappeared around the same time. Grace is now receiving intensive medical and psychological care at a nearby hospital. The FCT Command says Chinedu will face formal prosecution once investigations conclude.
