Greater Manchester Police ended a 48-hour rooftop standoff in Salford, England, after a 37-year-old suspect reportedly fell asleep on a small roof structure. The man, who was wanted on recall to prison, climbed onto the roof of a property on Reservoir Street on Thursday, 13 August 2026. Officers had been trying to arrest him on behalf of another police force. Tactical Aid Unit officers climbed a ladder and brought him down on Saturday, 15 August. A struggle followed during the arrest, and two officers were injured before police said the operation ended safely. The incident disrupted residents and reportedly damaged nearby properties.
