Bobby Bowden: Life, Career and Legacy of the Florida State Coaching Great
Bobby Bowden was an American college football coach who led Florida State University from 1976 to 2009. He transformed the Seminoles into a leading programme, winning national championships in 1993 and 1999, as well as 12 ACC titles. His teams finished in the AP Top 5 for 14 consecutive seasons between 1987 and 2000. Bowden was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006. His official coaching record was later affected by NCAA vacated wins from the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1929, Bowden played several sports before beginning his coaching career. He died of pancreatic cancer in August 2021 at age 91. He was survived by his wife, Ann, their six children and many grandchildren.
