Mass Shooting at Winston-Salem Park Leaves Two Dead, Several Injured
A planned meeting to settle a dispute at Leinbach Park near Winston-Salem spiraled into violence on April 20. What began as a fight between youths erupted into multiple people opening fire on each other. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation confirmed at least two people died and several others were wounded. Some of those involved are juveniles and authorities say suspects remain at large. Nearby schools, including Jefferson Middle School and Mount Tabor High School, were placed on a secure hold as a precaution. Parents may pick up their children with proper ID. Police have closed Leinbach Park and nearby roads, set up a perimeter and are using drones to locate suspects. The public is asked not to fly personal drones in the area to avoid interference.
