Hooded Stranger Nearly Pushes Commuter onto Moving Train at Seattle Station
CCTV footage from Seattle’s Northgate station shows a hooded man lurking behind a passenger engrossed in his phone. The stranger suddenly lunges just as a train arrives, nearly forcing the commuter onto the tracks before a brief struggle. Authorities later arrested 26-year-old Elisio Melendez and charged him with attempted second-degree murder. He was arraigned and ordered to undergo a mental competency evaluation. Prosecutors called the case “shocking” and warned of the danger he posed to the public. Melendez has no prior convictions but faced a 2019 charge for assault and domestic violence. That case was dismissed after he was found incompetent to stand trial due to schizophrenia. He remains in custody on a $750,000 bond.
