MDCN Registrar Fatima Kyari Named Oxford Visiting Fellow for Health Workforce Reform
Professor Fatima Kyari, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, has been named the 2026 Aig-Imoukhuede Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government. The six-month fellowship, due to begin in September 2026, supports public-sector leaders working on major policy and institutional challenges. Kyari will examine how Nigeria can expand medical education without compromising quality, while strengthening the country’s health workforce amid migration and staffing pressures. Her research is expected to produce practical recommendations on governance, regulation and the implementation of reforms in medical education. Kyari said the fellowship will help her develop ideas to improve Nigeria’s medical education and health workforce systems.
