Ogun Police Kill Kidnap Kingpin, Seize AK-47 and ₦2 Million
The Ogun State Police Command has neutralised a suspected kidnap leader in an intelligence-led raid by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit at a hideout in the Orile Ilugun Forest along the Abeokuta-Ibadan Expressway. Officers recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 20 rounds, ₦2 million in cash and two mobile phones. This followed the safe release of a victim abducted on May 14 at a fuel station in Odeda LGA, who regained freedom unharmed on May 18. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives stormed the camp at dawn on May 19, prompting a gun duel that resulted in the kingpin’s neutralisation. His body has been taken to the morgue for autopsy as efforts continue to track down other wounded suspects. The Commissioner of Police praised the bravery and professionalism of the unit and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
