Midnight Raid in Kachia: Gunmen Abduct Five Siblings Including Toddler Irene
On the night of April 4, armed assailants stormed a family compound in Kachia, Kaduna State. They abducted five siblings, among them two-year-old Irene. The raid began around 11:45 p.m. under the cover of darkness. The attackers set a church and several homes ablaze in the predominantly Christian settlement. A relative told SaharaReporters that gunmen breached the compound’s security and fled with the children before dawn. This incident follows a coordinated strike the next morning on two churches in Ariko community, where at least seven worshippers were killed and more abducted. The back-to-back attacks in Kachia Local Government Area underscore a rising banditry crisis. Residents blame a thinning security presence and accuse the state government and security agencies of failing to protect rural communities. As of filing, the kidnappers have not made any ransom demands.
