Joint Nigeria–US Operations Cripple ISWAP Strongholds, DHQ Reports
The Defence Headquarters says Nigeria’s partnership with the United States has undermined the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) and other terror groups. Maj.-Gen. Samaila Uba highlighted how intelligence sharing, specialised training and logistical support have boosted Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts. He noted recent raids drove ISWAP from key enclaves and destroyed supply routes. AFRICOM’s Director of Public Affairs, Col. Rebecca Heyse, added that joint operations launched in mid-May eliminated over 200 ISIS fighters, seized weapons caches and disrupted financial and media networks. Both commands pledged to sustain strategic information sharing, technological innovation and capacity building to strengthen regional security.
