Atiku, ADC Ask Court to Disqualify Tinubu From 2027 Race Over Alleged NYSC Certificate Discrepancy
Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress have filed a Federal High Court suit seeking to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the 2027 presidential election over alleged discrepancies in his NYSC certificate. The suit asks the court to examine a certificate said to bear the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle” and determine whether it belongs to President Tinubu. The plaintiffs argue that presenting a forged credential would violate constitutional requirements for presidential candidates. Atiku said INEC should produce the relevant nomination and qualification documents for the court’s review. He also argued that provisions of the Electoral Act cannot override the Constitution or prevent scrutiny of a candidate’s eligibility before an election. The claims remain allegations before the court, and President Tinubu and the other respondents will have an opportunity to respond.
