FAAN Says Uber and Bolt Are Not Banned at Nigerian Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has denied imposing a blanket ban on Uber, Bolt and other e-hailing services at airports under its management. FAAN said it is working with the operators on a framework to improve passenger safety, airport security, driver accountability and the management of pick-up points. The authority said travellers will not be denied access to e-hailing transport services. The discussions follow reported restrictions at the Lagos and Abuja international airports. FAAN said its Airport Car Hire Rank Management System is meant to regulate commercial transport within airport premises, support cashless payments and address touting, not replace or compete with e-hailing platforms. FAAN said it expects to reach an arrangement with the affected operators soon and apologised to passengers who may have experienced inconvenience.
