What if atheists are more aligned with God’s idea of goodness than some religious people? Many people pray and do good deeds expecting rewards, heaven, or protection from hell. It can make faith look like a transaction. Atheists who help others may do so without expecting any divine reward. They may simply believe it is right to be kind. So, who would God respect more: someone who does good for a reward, or someone who does good for no reward at all?
