Iwobi Draws Level With Salah as Joint-Second Most Capped African in Premier League
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has equalled Mohamed Salah’s 328 Premier League appearances, making them the joint-second most capped African players in the competition’s history. Iwobi reached the milestone in Fulham’s 1-0 win over Coventry City. Only former Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool defender Kolo Touré is ahead of them, with 353 Premier League appearances. The 29-year-old has made 100 league appearances for Arsenal, 123 for Everton and 104 for Fulham. He is also Nigeria’s all-time leading Premier League appearance-maker, ahead of Shola Ameobi’s 298 games. Iwobi played 73 minutes in the win, while Calvin Bassey helped Fulham keep a clean sheet. He could move into outright second place on the African appearances list in Fulham’s next league match against Aston Villa.
