Nigeria’s democracy often feels like a competition for power, influence and personal gain, while urgent policies are delayed, diluted or trapped in political bargaining. A military government may appear faster because power is centralised and the chain of command is clearer. But speed alone does not guarantee accountability, justice or better living conditions for ordinary Nigerians. After decades of democratic rule, many people are frustrated by insecurity, hardship and weak public services.
