From Childhood Caregiver to Aspiring Writer: My Journey
I became a mother at six when my mum had my little brother. I learned to rock him to sleep, feed him, and clean up after him. I rarely played with friends because I was always busy caring for him. Staying indoors sparked my love for reading. I devoured one storybook a day and taught myself new words from the dictionary. By eight, I could read a novel without any help. At ten, I wrote my first story and shared it with school friends. I dreamed of becoming a celebrated writer. But after my junior school exams, my dad steered me toward science instead of arts. I took JAMB twice and finally gained admission for Statistics in 2015. I graduated in 2019 and later discovered a writing course in 2022. Though I paused due to personal issues, I re-enrolled this year and have improved greatly. I’m now writing a horror-thriller called “The Psychopath.” Writing demands passion, focus, and patience.
