Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central senatorial district has urged the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello to honour the invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding an alleged N80.2 billion alleged fraud.

The senator lauded efforts by the EFCC to apprehend and prosecute Bello over the alleged fraud committed while in office as governor.

She also commended the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, for ceding 14 properties that were initially forfeited to the Nigerian Government to the government and people of Enugu State, according to a statement from Arogbonlo Israel, Chief Press Secretary to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, on Friday.

However, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasised the need for the EFCC to investigate other corrupt public officials to avoid the impression that their actions against Bello were merely a witch-hunt.

She expressed surprise at Bello's excuse for not attending the EFCC's invitation.

The EFCC Chairman had claimed that when he invited Bello to his office for questioning, the former Kogi governor told him that a senator (name withheld) had allegedly gathered journalists to humiliate him anytime he was at the agency's office in Abuja for interrogation.

“I called Yahaya Bello, as a serving governor, to come to my office to clear himself. I shouldn’t have done that. But he said because a certain senator had planted over 100 journalists in my office, he would not come.

“I told him that he would be allowed to use my private gate to give him a cover, but he said my men should come to his village to interrogate him,” Olukoyede was quoted as saying.

Reacting, Natasha reminded Bello of the importance of respecting Nigeria's laws and constitution, given his former position as the chief security officer of Kogi.

She said, "I was surprised to hear that Yahaya Bello evaded the invitation from the EFCC, despite having served as Kogi's former chief security officer.

“As a former governor, he should understand the importance of respecting Nigeria's laws and constitution.

"It's a well-known fact that ‘he who comes into equity must come with clean hands’. As such, I advise him to honour the invitation and clear his name while he still has the chance.

"I'd also like to take this moment to appreciate the diligence of the EFCC in handling the case so far.

“No Nigerian is above the law, and therefore the agency must see this case through to the end if they are to gain the trust of both Nigerians and the international community in the fight against corruption.”

GYB replicated most of the criminalities of self-styled Field Marshall Idi Amin Dada, a Ugandan military officer and politician who served as the third president of Uganda from 1971 to 1979. (The first seven Eze Nris used the regnal title ‘Nri Namoke’ and came from the section of Nri Town known as Diodo. Most traditions have however telescoped them into one Eze Nri, simply known as Nrinamoke.)

1. Ogbuodudu Akakọmme (Nri Namoke I) – Ogbuodudu Akakọmme, the first Nri Namoke, was also known as Okporo Odudu. He was a son of Eri and migrated from Agụleri to Amanuke. Either this Eze Nri or his successor left Amanuke and migrated to the present site of Nri Town (after a brief stay at Achalla-Isuana) where he founded the Diodo section of that town. It was from the Diodo section of Nri Town that the Eze Nri originally came until the kingship passed to Nribụife from the Agụkwu section some generations later.

2. Edu Anyịm (Nri Namoke II) – Son of Ogbuodudu/Okporo Odudu. He appears to have been an Eze Nri of far-reaching prestige, because his name is still recalled in the traditions and the rituals of the people of far-away Akụ, near Nsụka. For instance, the Akụ people claim that the Odo cult was introduced to their town by ritual agents from Nri; and on the day that the Odo spirits are to depart to the spirit world after the Odo festival period, this proclamation is made in Akụ: “Nshi Namoke Nwa Okporo Odudu, Ezitere Odo na ọnọghalụ n'Igbo.” (Translation: Nri Namoke, son of Okporo Odudu [the first king of Nri], Has sent a message that Odo has overstayed outside.)

3. Nri Egbobe (Nri Namoke III) – According to traditions, Nri Egbobe was not qualified by blood to ascend the throne, i.e., he was a usurper. But because no eligible successor to Edu Anyịm could be found from the line of Okporo Odudu, he was crowned. His reign was brief and characterised by disorder, for he was a tyrant. The Diodo people hated him, and finally decided to be rid of him. It was an abomination to shed kingly blood, so the people settled on carrying him away to the Evil Forest, tying him to a tree, and leaving him there to die. For seven days the deposed king rained curses on the people from the tree in the forest. He declared that they would be struck by misfortunes and disasters, depopulated and would remain a small community (Ana Nta). Then he died. The curse seemed to have worked. Many young men from Diodo were killed in a tree-felling accident. This was perceived as a bad omen and led to a mass exodus of people from the Diodo section. Diodo was left under-populated. The underpopulation may have affected the balance of power in Nri Town and may have been a remote contributing factor to the eventual shifting of power from Diodo to Agukwu.

Nothing is remembered about the careers of the next three Eze Nris, whose reigns probably belonged to the 15th century:

7. Ezeagụ Akubilo (Nri Namoke VII) – By the time of Nri Namoke VII, the Agụkwu section of Nri Town had been established by Nri Ifikuanim who appears to have instituted a parallel kingship at Agụkwu. Nri Ifikuanim and his people had migrated directly from the town of Ugbene, but were also ultimately of Ụmụeri descent. A daughter of Nri Namoke VII was given in marriage to Nri Ifikuanim (or a descendant of his). This daughter had a son who became Nribụife.

In his old age, Nri Namoke VII was utterly neglected by his people, the Diodo section. It was during this time that one of his sons named Avọ emigrated and established the 'rival' Nri centre at Ọraeri. Nribụife, his (Nri Namoke VII's) daughter’s son, was the one who took care of him and brought him food. When he was nearing the end of his life, Nri Namoke VII cursed his family and declared that the eze-ship would depart from Diodo and never return to it, and that if any Diodo man attempted to take up the title of Eze Nri he would perish. He then handed the paraphernalia of royal office to his grandson, Nribụife from the Nrifikwuanim line. Nrifikwuanim kings from Agụkwu have being reigning in Nri Town since then. (Although recently the Diodo people have tried to resurrect their claim to the kingship by having one of their sons Chikadibia Ọgụnmọ crowned as Nri Namoke VIII, as a counterpoise to the more recognised king of the Nrifikwuanim line, Nri Enweleana II.)

8. Nribụịfe –Nribụịfe unified the two moieties of Agụkwu and Diodo-Akamkpịsị into one kingship and ruled as the first Eze Nri of both communities. He established the “Council of State” known as Nzemabụa made up of twelve high-ranking ozo titleholders.

9. Nri Ọmalọ – Nothing is remembered about him, except his name.

10. Nrijimọfọ I – Remembered as a great king during whose time Nri itinerant ritual agents spread the cult of ikenga all over the northern and western Igbo areas. According to Ọnwụejeọgwụ, Nri influence, during this time, reached Nsụka in the north, the vicinity of Ọlụ in the south, and as far west as the vicinity of Agbọ. But, as we have seen, Akụ traditions suggest that Nri influence had reached the Nsụka area earlier in the time of the Nri Namoke kings. What happened in the time of Nrijimọfọ I was probably consolidation of an already far-flung area of influence, and expansion into some new areas, especially to the west.

11. Nri Ọmalonyeso – Nothing is remembered about him, except his name.

12. Nri Anyamata – (mid 17th century.) The only notable event associated with this king was a long drought (probably in the 1640s), which was followed by severe famine all over the area within Nri’s sphere of influence. Ọnwụejeọgwụ puts his reign to between c. 1465 and 1511, and Douglas Chambers to between c. 1500 and 1530. The chronology of the Little Ice Age droughts in West Africa suggests his reign could have been in the middle of the 17th century.

13. Nri Fenenu – (later part of the 17th century.) Fenenu was renowned for his mystical powers. It was said that he lived to be over one hundred years. Because he lived to be so old, people began to believe he was immortal. His reign is associated with one of the earliest remembered appearances of a large host of locusts (igwulube) in the area. The Eze Nri are believed to have the ability to control the appearance and disappearance of locusts; it can then be understood how the Coming of Locusts during the reign of Fenenu added to his renown as a powerful mystic.

In the last years of his reign (according to traditions), Nri Fenenu mastered the art of levitation, from which he got his ‘reign name’ – Fenenu. One evening, so goes the story, the old king came out into his courtyard to ‘bask in the evening sun’. There he floated away into the sky, and came to rest atop a tall iroko tree. This display of supernatural powers deeply troubled the townspeople. He remained there atop the tree until the elders of Agụkwu with their ọfọ sticks assembled and petitioned him to come down and die like an ordinary eze. Everyone was relieved when the king descended from his lofty perch some hours later. The head of the Adama people went and touched him on the forehead with the ọfọ and he died at once and was buried. Jeffreys suggests that this ‘touching on the forehead with the ọfọ’ is probably a euphemism for ‘ritually killing the king’. In African history, divine kings who had reigned for too long or who were perceived to be dangerously too powerful were asked to die or were killed by their officials; and this might have been the fate of Nri Fenenu. His descendants and the people of his lineage (the Ụmụnnechi lineage) were thereafter debarred from ever producing an Eze Nri again. This debarment still holds true today.

14. Nri Agụ – The beginning of Nri Agụ’s reign portended great promise. There was an increase in trade, resulting in an increasing accumulation of wealth by a section of the people. Dr TN Nwaezeigwe suggests that a number of Nri settlements sprang up in western Igboland during his reign, pre-eminently in the Anịọcha-Oshimili axis, including Ọgwashị-Ukwu and Ogboli-Igboụzọ. Ogboli Igboụzọ is still called Ogboli Nshi-Agụ and Ọgwashi-Ukwu called Adaigbo Nshi-Agụ, apparently after him; and a secondary school in Ọgwashi-Uku still bears his name. However, it must be stated that the 'rival' centre of Ọraeri also had an Eze-Nri who was known as Nri Agụ, and it might have been this Eze-Nri, rather than the one who reigned in Agụkwu, who was connected with the founding of Ọgwashi-Ukwu and Ogboli Igboụzọ. The traditions closely link Nri Agụ of Ọraeri with the River Niger.

Nri Agụ of Agụkwu soon found his life as an Eze Nri with all its restrictions and rigid observances unbearable. He therefore abdicated and, with a few faithful followers, secretly left the town and went to settle in Ọraukwu. It is said that a chiefly lineage in the latter town (Ọraukwu) still traces its origin to Nri Agụ.

15. Nri Alike and Nri Apịa – After Nri Agụ, two very wealthy men vied for the Nri throne – Alike and Apịa. Being men of means and power, no one could stop them and they both succeeded in getting themselves crowned as Eze Nri – the first time the town had seen two crowned kings since the unification under Nribụịfe . Apparently, the trade boom that began in the reign of Nri Agu had affected the politics of Nri: a class of noveau riche had risen who could force or manoeuvre their way into power. They both died ominously. According to some traditions, they both died on the same day; according to other traditions, they died within one market week (four days) of each other.

The reign of Alike and Apịa witnessed a massive expansion of the trans-Atlantic trade in slaves. This trade appears to have only penetrated the Nri-influenced areas significantly from the middle of the 18th century, when we got the first reference to an Igbo slave in the New World with ichi marks, in 1752. Thus, it is likely the reign of Alike and Apịa embraced the mid-18th century. And while these two Eze Nri authorised the inhumane trade in slaves (perhaps because they were traders themselves who might have also dealt in slaves), they declared it an abomination to kill or bleed a slave. This is the origin of the claim by the Nri people that they did not practise human sacrifice. (There are, however, indications that human sacrifice persisted in Nri.)

16. Nri Ezimilo – Before his selection as the next Eze Nri, Nri Ezimilo had been a ritual agent based in Asaba. He was recalled to Nri Town and consecrated. One night, however, shortly after he became Eze Nri, he was murdered by thieves from Enugwu Ukwu. The thieves were raiders who had come to the king’s compound to steal the cattle paid to the Eze Nri as tribute. Nri Ezimilo had gone out into his yard to see what was going on when the men, not knowing his identity, murdered him. The death of Nri Ezimilo was followed by a severe drought which was said to have affected all of Igboland. This was probably in the late 18th century (sometime between the 1770s and the 1790s) when, according to records, several parts of the West African forest regions were affected by drought.

17. Nri Enwenetem – Because of Nri Ezimilo’s untimely death and because of the drought, which was attributed to the wrath of the murdered king, his son was allowed to step into his father’s position immediately (without the necessary interregnum), and he became Eze Nri Enwenetem. This was the first and only time a son was succeeding his father as Eze Nri, at least since the time of the Nri Namokes. It was also the first and only time an interregnum was not observed after the passing of the preceding king. The drought that followed his father’s death is said to have only ended when Enugwu Ukwu made amends for the murder by giving up an Enugwu Ukwu son and an Enugwu Ukwu daughter to die in Nri in compensation.

18. Nri Añụa – Around the turn of the 19th century, Añụa was consecrated as Eze Nri. He was an aged man, and soon agreed to abdicate in favour of a younger candidate. He has officially been forgotten, and his name does not appear in the official kinglist. His descendants, however, (the Añụa minimal lineage within ỤmụNri major lineage of Obeagụ) have kept his memory alive by maintaining an Eze-Nri Añụa Royal Band.

19. Nri Enweleana I – Nri Añụa was to be succeeded by a man whose name is remembered as Nwankpọ, but the position was forcibly wrestled from Nwankpọ in what was essentially a coup by a young firebrand who assumed the position of Eze Nri as Nri Enweleana I. The reign of Nri Enweleana I coincided with the career of the notorious Arọ slave dealer Okoli Ijọma of Ndịkeliọnwụ, who was raiding the Nri-Ọka axis in the mid-19th century. Enweleana I sent his ritual agents to dissuade Ijọma from slave-raiding and from instigating towns to fight one another with arms and the Ada [Edda] warriors which he (Ijọma) supplied. But when Ijọma rebuffed the Eze Nri’s diplomatic overtures, Enweleana I placed an anathema on him and formed a military alliance called Amakọm to resist the activities of the Arọ slavers. It was probably around this time that Nri, Ọka, Enugwu-Ukwu and some other towns within Nri’s sphere of ritual control stopped holding slaves and a settlement was set up for refugees from slave raids and ex-slaves, known as Amọbịa. The member-towns of the Amakọm military alliance set up to resist the Arọ were: Ọka, Nibo, Nise, Amọbịa, Ugwuọba, Enugwu-Agịdị, Ebenebe, Ukpo, and Amansi. The military alliance is said to have achieved some success in checking the Edda raids in the Nri-Ọka axis, notably defeating the hired warriors at Nọfia and Enugwu-Ukwu. Nri Enweleana I died around 1869 and was succeeded after a long interregnum of about 20 years by Nri Ọbalike.

20. Nri Ọbalike – Nri Obalike became Eze Nri around 1889, and was the Eze Nri when British colonialism arrived in the heart of Igboland. Against the tradition that an Eze Nri must not leave his town, the British forced him to attend the Native Court at Ọka. It was a reflection of the awe and terror in which the people of the Nri-Ọka axis held the Eze Nri that when Nri Ọbalike entered the Native Court for the first time while a sitting was going on, the whole assembly rose and prepared to flee.There, in Ọka, he was forced (at gunpoint, my sources say) to renounce the powers of his sacred office. In August 1911, the British colonial administrators struck the biggest blow on the power of Eze Nri Ọbalike when they compelled the Eze Nri to publicly abolish nsọ and alụ (the very props of the Eze Nri’s authority) in a gathering of the Eze Anị (chief priests of the Anị deity) at Nkwọ Marketplace in Enugwu-Ukwu. By this act, the Eze Nri was repudiating his ritual control of Igbo communities: the Nri hegemony had come to an end, in theory at least. Eze Nri Ọbalike passed on in 1926.

21. Nrijimọfọ II – The first Eze Nri of a ‘modern’ Nri Town. He was enthroned in 1936 after an interregnum of 10 years.

22. Nri Enweleana II – Eze Nri Enweleana II Obidiegwu Onyeso became Eze Nri in 1988. He died around 2018 (the death and burial of Eze Nri are not usually publicised, as they were supposed to be immortal), and his son Prince Ikenna Onyeso was confirmed as Regent of Nri in 2019.

Ifim Ibom Ibibio, the highest traditional institution in Ibibio Land, has congratulated the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, on his attainment of 60 years of age.

The body, otherwise known as the Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers, said in a goodwill message titled "Happy Birthday to a Worthy Son and Leader" that the life and times of Pastor Eno are full of exciting reasons to celebrate.

In the message, signed by the Oku Ibom Ibibio and the President General of Ifim Ibom Ibibio, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, JP, CFR, said the Governor "stand tall as a worthy son—a cleric, consummate businessman, statesman, bridge builder, an icon and a servant leader."

It was noted that since he came on board as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on May 29, 2023, his performance records have been phenomenal.

"Through the ARISE Agenda programme of your administration, lives are being immensely touched from the rural to urban centres with poverty alleviation schemes across the 31 LGAs, the award of multiple road construction, the building and enhancement of health and education institutions, housing estates, the payment of pensions and gratuities, and a healthy relationship with traditional rulers, among others," it added.

Ifim Ibom Ibibio pointed out that Governor Eno has brought a commendable new dimension of non-partisanship into governance, thus making inclusivity the hallmark of his administration.

The body further stated that Governor Eno's laudable scorecard has accentuated his impacts, thus endearing him to the people across the state and beyond, which makes them quite happy.

60th Birthday: Ifim Ibom Ibibio Congratulates Gov. Umo Eno

> An Air Peace plane coming from Port Harcourt made an emergency landing at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, on Thursday after the pilots noticed a fire warning indicator in the cockpit.

The aircraft, which had 243 passengers and 12 crew members on board, landed safely at 4:45pm on Runway18L of the Lagos airport.

The pilots immediately shut down the engines of the aircraft after fire fighting personnel reportedly observed smoke on the engines.

The call sign of the aircraft is: APK7193.

Air Peace, in a statement, said it was later discovered that the fire warning noticed in the cockpit was false.

The statement was titled, “Notification of false fire alarm on Port Harcourt-Lagos flight.”

It read, “We wish to inform the flying public of an incident that occurred during our Port Harcourt-Lagos flight P47193 of today, April 25, 2024.

“Some minutes before landing, our Captain noticed a fire warning indicator in the cockpit. The pilots performed all safety precautionary measures, and the fire indicator went off. The Captain immediately notified our Operations Control Centre in Lagos at 17:37 hrs.

“It was determined upon landing that the alarm was falsely triggered as there was no fire event. The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers disembarked normally.

“We want to reassure the flying public that safety remains our utmost priority, and we are unwavering in our commitment to it.”

According to reports, the killer policeman, Inspector Taofeek who was one of the policemen attached to Skymall Supermarket located in Sangotedo, Ajah area of Lagos State, stabbed Chinemerem to death and took to his heels after committing what's clearly a premeditated murder.

According to reports, the fleeing policeman has been arrested and in custody according to the statement released by the Lagos Police Command. The sad incident which occurred a few days ago has sparked an outrage among members of the public who are demanding justice for Chinemerem. It would be recalled that police brutality led to the massive ENDSARS protest across the country a few years ago. Apparently, nothing much has changed since then, the latest murder of an innocent man by Inspector Taofeek is a reminder of the brutality embedded in the Nigerian Police Force. 

In order to forestall another avoidable death, Nigerians are calling for swift investigation and prompt prosecution of Inspector Taofeek.

'Pity Men': Williams Uchemba Laments Outfits Women Wear To The Gym

> Men of the Edo state police command have paraded two fake police inspectors arrested in connection with illicit drugs valued at N20 million in the State.

The Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, who disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City, said they were among the five-man criminal gang specialized in dealing in illicit drugs.

He gave the names of the two fake police officers as Alex Akaeze, 39, and Kadiri Hassan, 45. He also listed other members of the gang including Ovie Samuel, 46; Stanley Itota, 45; and Felix Oputi, 46.

Adegboye explained that the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Command’s Intelligence and Rapid Response Squad at a guest house operated by Samuel at No 5, Colobus Street, off Upper Mission Extension Road, Benin City.

He added that the illicit drug called ‘ice’ weighed 1,080 kilograms with a street value of N20 million. He added that the investigation is ongoing and that the suspects would soon be charged in court.

When interrogated, one of the suspects, Akaeze, said he was enlisted into the Police Force in 2009. Akaeze, who insisted he is a Police Inspector added that he was transferred to Zamfara State from AIG Zone 2, Lagos State.

According to him

“I am an Inspector of Police. I was enlisted in 2009, I started in Ketu, and from there to SARS. I was transferred to Zamfara, but I did not go. I worked myself back to Zone 2, and from there I was transferred to Lagos State Command, from where we were later transferred to Alagbon in September last year, but we were yet to report for duty there.

These two officers [Command operatives] are our colleagues, we worked together in IRT, I have their phone numbers and I called them before I came down from Lagos and I told them that I had an urgent arrest to make and wanted them to follow us and they agreed.

Although I told them that I still serve at Alagbon, I didn’t tell them the truth that we have not reported for duty there. We were with them in their office yesterday and they led us to make the arrest. We were however surprised that they suddenly changed it for us and arrested us with the drug dealers” he said.

On his part, Kadiri Hassan, who also insisted he is a Police Inspector, added that he joined the Police Force in 2008. He also disclosed that he was yet to report to duty at Alagbon when he was transferred in February this year.

Ovie Samuel, who procured the hard drug, denied knowledge of the trade.

“The people called me and said that they needed ice and I called my brother in Delta State to bring it for them, only for them to reveal their real identities that they are policemen” he stated.

I just want to share a little with you what happened yesterday.

I would start by saying if life is still hard for those working and earning, you can imagine what is happening to those who are job seekers.

As a job seeker who is not getting help anywhere, most times you are left to do something drastic just to survive at the very period and that was what I did yesterday. Only those who have been in my situation would understand.

So while job hunting yesterday in far away place, hungry, needy and thirsty, I came across a building site and I opted to work to earn something. The contractors thought I was joking until they asked what I can do and I told them anything. They asked if I can use wheel barrow to convey gravels from one place to another and I answered yes. 

"oya, see wheel barrow and see gravels, convey them from point A to B. Start work"- contractor.

I immediately untucked my clothes and hit the barrow and that was it. Not like I liked it looking at how strenous the job is, but condition pushed me into it. As I was working, I was praying to God for energy to do it and I could have done more but due to hunger, I did my best and that was how I earned a little something yesterday so survive as I didn't have any other money with me. 

May be the money would have taken me for two days or more but we all know the level of inflation in Nigeria today. 

How about body pain? I haven't been myself since that yesterday. Hard pains all over my body, plus wounds on my pams. It is well. 

Please government and organizations should look into and provide jobs for the youths. It's very deadly staying in Nigeria today without a job or assistance anyway. It's an excuse many use getting involved with crime and it can be suicidal also.

"May the glory of tomorrow take away all shame and be greater than that of today"..

The Bible is a book adored by Christians. It has been found to contain a lot of errors, lies and contradictions and thus not a reliable book. I made a thread about it here, in case ya'll wanna check it out and debate on the points there. Unfortunately for Christians, the gaffess were so many, and they could not come up with any defenses. 
But in this thread, I'm gonna concentrate on the creation story, cos a Christian challenged me to(Just like another christian challenged me to open a thread about the bible errors and in the end he never gave any defenses). The errors are so much that I have to take them in parts. So this is only Part 1

What are the factual errors in the Genesis creation account?
There are several errors, since it’s a creation myth based on the knowledge, superstitions and misconceptions of the people who wrote it, just like any other creation myth. Let’s consider just some of them:

1. Duration time for the creation. This is the first considerable problem. Genesis says that, from the early stages of the earth’s formation to the dawn of man, only six days passed, which is obviously wrong. We know this whole process took about 4 billion years. Many apologists try to solve this crude mistake by declaring that the word “day” has a more vague meaning, such as six general divisions of time. We don’t know this, however, and the whole context of the story seems closer to 24 hour days (for example, we constantly read “And the evening and the morning were the first day.”).

2. The order of creation days. The order in which the creation events happened in the bible and the true geological and biological evolution of the earth are completely different. Some examples follow:

a. In Genesis 1:7 it says God divided the waters above and under the firmament. The only logical way to interpret this “firmament” or “heavens”, is the atmosphere, where water in vapour form is stored and eventually falls as rain. If this was done in a subsequent stage of the earth’s formation (day two), we would expect that the amount of water vapour in the atmosphere should increase over time. We however know that the exact opposite happened, as carbon dioxide and water vapour were partly replaced by oxygen.

b. In Genesis 1:11 it suggests that plants were the first form of life to appear, what is obviously wrong. It also suggests that plants and animals appeared in different times, what we know not to be true. Last, if compared to Genesis 1:16–18, it indicates that plants came before the sun, which would be impossible since sunlight is a fundamental ingredient to the process of photosynthesis, which is how plants produce their food.

c. In Genesis 1:16–18, as discussed before, the sun comes only after the plants appeared on the planet, which is obviously absurd. Some apologists try to save this by alleging that the sun already existed but wasn’t visible until the fourth day, since the earth’s atmosphere was thicker. First of all, the atmosphere was already transparent enough to see the sun when the first plants appeared in the planet. Moreover, the organisms from which plants evolved had already “invented” the process of photosynthesis and hence needed a substantial amount of sunlight. Finally, there are several studies who show how a plant’s growth is deeply affected by an increased period of cloudy days, and so it’s absurd to suppose that big trees and others could have appeared in a time of thick atmosphere, where the portion of light entering the planet was so weak that the sun wasn’t even visible.

d. Genesis 1:20 and 24 suggests that flying animals came before land animals, which is just wrong due to the fossil and DNA knowledge we have.

3. Magical elements. Some apologists argue that the creation myth in Genesis has a special status, since it’s much more “sober” in terms of reality than the creation myths of other religions. First of all, what matters is the truth. To construct a fable with elements closer to reality doesn’t change the fact that it is a fable. Secondly, the fact that the Genesis account seems less mesmerizing than others is just because the israelites followed monotheism (or at least monolatrism), and hence their creation story was devoid of the many struggles between gods that commonly take place at the beginning of other myths. Finally, it’s important to remember that there are many magical elements surrounding the Genesis story: the book of Revelations talks about a war in heaven between a dragon and his hosts and an angel and his hosts; Genesis itself, just a few pages afterwards, talks about talking serpents, magic fruits and a universal flood that occured just because God was in a bad mood with humanity

The Christian Creation Story. Why Its An Old Wives Tale

President Bola Tinubu has approved a new initiative to
route 20% of palliatives, including food interventions,
through religious organisations and traditional institutions
in the country.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who announced this on
Tuesday while speaking at a high-level dialogue on nutrition
at the State House in Abuja, also unveiled an ambitious
plan to improve nutrition across Nigeria with a rallying call
to faith and traditional leaders to champion the effort in
their communities.
The one-day dialogue with the theme: “Faith leaders as
catalysts for enhanced human capital through nutrition,”
was organized by the National Council on Nutrition and the
World Bank-assisted Accelerating Nutrition Results in
Nigeria [ANRiN] Project.
Speaking about the approval given on the palliatives
distribution, Shettima said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
is conscious of his obligations to the Nigerian people. He’s
very much alive to the fact that the very essence of
government is to provide support services and security to
the lives of the citizenry”.
The vice president was responding to concerns raised by
the Imam of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) about the
exclusion of traditional and religious leaders from the
distribution of palliatives.
He said: “The President has approved that 20% of the
palliatives, in terms of food intervention, be routed through
our religious organisations and the traditional institutions.
The Tsangaya schools, the mission schools will be
specially targeted for such interventions.”
Shettima also announced that 20% of the funds released
for the School Feeding Programme will be channeled
through the office of the Minister of Budget and Economic
Planning to religious bodies.
According to him: “We have already commenced the
engagement, we are working out the modalities so that we
can have a hitch-free disbursement, a very transparent
disbursement, taking into cognizance all the tendencies in
our system”.
Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Muhammadu Sa’ad
Abubakar III, and President of the Christian Association of
Nigeria (CAN), the Most Rev. Daniel Okoh, pledged the
commitment of their communities and congregations to the
efforts to combat hunger and malnutrition in the country,
stating that their presence at the event underscored their
loyalty to the campaign.

Kola Ologbondiyan, former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic (PDP), has urged Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi state, to “come out of hiding and submit himself to the law”.

Bello who has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundering, said through his counsel that his failure to appear before a federal high court in Abuja is due to fear of arrest by the anti-graft agency.

Speaking with TheCable on Wednesday, Ologbondiyan said Bello should listen to Nigerians who have asked him to submit himself to the law.

“He is left with only one choice and that is, he should go and face the law,” Ologbondiyan said.

Whether he is guilty or innocent, it is the law that will decide that. All these shenanigans by him is needless.

“My advice for him is that he should submit himself to the law. He was a chief law officer of Kogi state for eight years, how then can he be running away from that law?

“He should listen to the wise counsel of Nigerians who have said that he should go and face the law.”

On Wednesday, the ex-governor’s media team said Bello is not running from the law but wants due process to be followed.

It was gathered that the inferno started from one of the shops dealing in hospital and laboratory equipment, and then spread to the three other shops in the building.
