Shakira has praised Uganda’s Triplets Ghetto Kids after spending time with the young dance troupe in the United States following their World Cup halftime-show performance. The singer said their time together was filled with love and joy. She took the children to the beach for the first time, spent time with them and her family, and said saying goodbye was difficult. Shakira said the dancers’ talent and warmth highlight the potential of children who lack opportunities. She called on governments, businesses and professionals to invest more in children and ensure they have equal chances to succeed. The Kampala-based group gained international recognition through their energetic dance videos and performances. They have since returned to Uganda after their trip.
