Port Harcourt Resident Alleges CDC Officials Demanded ₦20,000 to Drain Floodwater
A Port Harcourt resident, Pearl, has alleged that Community Development Committee officials demanded ₦20,000 before allowing floodwater to be pumped from her compound into a nearby gutter. She said recent flooding affected her home, leading her landlady to buy a water pump to drain the compound. According to Pearl, some men from the community stopped the process and insisted on payment before it could continue. The incident reportedly occurred near Nkpolu Junction in Rivers State. Pearl has called on relevant authorities to investigate the allegation and clarify whether such charges are approved.
