Investigation Questions MCIU Pro-Chancellor Anthony Kila’s Professorial Claims
An investigation by a Nigerian newspaper has raised questions about Anthony Kila’s use of the title “professor” and his claimed status as a Jean Monnet Professor of Strategy and Development. Kila, who became pro-chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University in August 2025, reportedly said the title was awarded by the European Centre for Advanced and Professional Studies. The investigation said it could not verify the institution’s existence or find evidence that he held a recognised professorial appointment. The report also cited responses from organisations linked to the Jean Monnet programme and questioned some qualifications and publications listed in Kila’s public profiles. Kila confirmed he was not associated with Jean Monnet Actions, while the university said it had no evidence disproving his claim.
