How to Assess Egg Conveyor Capacity Before Expanding Your Layer Farm
Adding more birds does not automatically mean your egg conveyor must be replaced. First, measure what the current collection route can handle during the available working hours. Keep a timed record of eggs arriving at the egg room, interruptions, and the houses collecting at the same time. Compare this with the expected output from the expanded flock, including realistic production estimates and available collection time. If capacity is limited, identify the actual bottleneck. Delays at elevators, transfer points or the packing station may require targeted upgrades rather than replacing the entire central conveyor. Staggered collection can reduce simultaneous flow, but power outages and restart plans should also be considered. Request a full route drawing and capacity assessment before approving any equipment upgrade.
